Mauro was wonderfully welcoming when I arrived with my medium-sized greyhound, and was happy to answer questions and share information. I’d told him in advance that I was bringing the dog. Villa Sofia feels like a step back in time, with spotless rooms and tasteful 1960s and 1970s furniture. The rooms are spacious and quiet, and the center is an easy walk away. The garden around the villa is lovely too, and you can eat there when the weather allows. I had a great stay and will definitely come back. Fano is well worth exploring, and the beach is wonderful.

We were a couple traveling with a newborn, and having our room and bathroom on the ground floor was really handy. The owner made us feel very welcome and was friendly throughout. Everything was extremely clean and hygienic, and the green outdoor area is lovely, with space to eat outside too. Highly recommended.

Mauro, the owner, was available whenever I had a question. I stayed for five days, and the house was well looked after. Its walled garden gave us the privacy we needed and was a convenient spot to eat outdoors whenever we liked.

We booked a room because it was near the hospital where my child had medical appointments, and I paid a deposit by bank transfer to secure three nights. The hospital changed the appointment dates, then problems with my employers meant we had to cancel. We called two days after booking to ask for the deposit back. The host said it wouldn’t be refunded, but kept on file for a year toward my child’s new appointments in 2023. He said he’d turned down thousands of other requests to give us the room. I told him he could keep the transfer, but he’d lost a guest who would certainly have returned. I hope this review helps others choose. Update: A year later, who knows what might happen? A decent person could have refunded the €60 or issued a voucher for the same amount, instead of keeping it in his account and getting in the way of a family’s future plans. That would have left a better impression. He also never issued an invoice to account for the money. As I’d already told him, reasons beyond our control forced us to reschedule my child’s visits. I’ll find somewhere else that suits my needs and convenience, and hopefully pleases the host, even if it costs more. My warmest regards to Mr. Mauro.
