Agriturismo Walden

I worried a little about the internet before we arrived, but they had just installed Starlink and the connection was fast and reliable. The hosts, Stefano and Jenny, are what make Walden feel so welcoming. They treated us like family, and the many tame animals, including donkeys, dogs, chickens, geese, pigeons, doves and cats, add to the relaxed, peaceful atmosphere. There was far more to explore than we expected. Beyond the pool and roomy apartment, the property has around 80 hectares of forest, hiking trails, a cave used as both a sauna and a cool room, and a well-kept play area. I could happily spend days walking in the woods. Breakfast featured their own local food, from fresh eggs to fig marmalade and honey. Stefano is a very talented cook, and in the evening he served authentic Italian food at restaurant level. The kids especially loved being included and learning a bit while he cooked.

We spent over a week at this peaceful agriturismo near Orvieto, right in the heart of Umbria. Jennifer and Stefano made us feel so looked after, like they had us in their arms. It's a lovely fit for couples as well as families.

There are lots of ways to stay here, and it worked for me as a solo traveler with a pet. Families, couples and campers should find options too. Jenny and Stefano were lovely hosts, and the family-run property is kept in great shape. The pool is superb, with friendly dogs, donkeys, a little cow and other animals around. We had homemade pizza and prosciutto one evening, both so good, and their jams, pasta and other products were spectacular. Thanks for having me!

Walden felt especially comfortable for our family, and we left hoping to come back. Jenny manages the place so well, while Stefano is a fantastic chef. The setting, property and warm hospitality together make it a special place. We highly recommend it.
