We've stayed in Gavillacio twice with our family, including our two kids, for 10-14 days each time, and we'll definitely come again. There are lots of day trip options nearby, including Florence, Arezzo, and Sienna. The pool is phenomenal, with hills all around and breathtaking views. Lorna is a wonderful host who does her best to make your stay great. The apartments have a special feel, are homey and furnished with love and extraordinary taste. They stay cool in summer, so we didn't need air conditioning.

The apartments are roomy and stayed cool even under the hot Tuscan sun. We loved the large pool and its setting overlooking the hills. Lorna was an excellent host and shared plenty of suggestions for places to eat. We spent a week here in summer 2020. Lorna had received lots of cancellations, so there was only one other family staying. Highly recommended!

The main thing to keep in mind is that we booked during high season without asking how many children would be there. Most guests were families with at least two kids, and some had four. It was noisier than we expected, especially around the pool, where children ran and shouted. We even found kids left unattended. We had to help a three-year-old girl who got stuck on a swing while her six-year-old brother lifted her. The owners clearly explain the rules for children's behavior, including that it's not safe to leave them alone by the pool. The rules appear on signs and in a booklet in the apartments, but some guests seemed not to read them or care. Still, this is easily one of the five most beautiful places I've ever stayed. The owners are friendly and respectful, our apartment was complete and spacious, and the pool area had enough seats and umbrellas for everyone. The location is perfect, and the views are some of the best panoramas in Toscana. A well-deserved five stars.
