The neighborhood was a pleasant surprise, and this ended up being our favorite of the four places we stayed in Italy. I’d booked it mainly because it was near the airport, and the shuttle was easy to use and extremely punctual. We also enjoyed the comfortable bed and the view and service at the rooftop bar.

We stayed here after getting off a cruise, with a flight the next morning. It’s very close to the airport, and fishing boats tie up across the street, where you can see that day’s catch. The hotel was clean and the staff were friendly.

The rooms are clean and the service is good, but the rooftop noise kept me from sleeping well on the fourth floor. They move chairs around very often, and there’s no sound isolation or other way to avoid it. It happens every single night.

There are plenty of local seafood restaurants nearby if you like fish, and Hotel Tiber is convenient for an early flight from Leonardo da Vinci Airport. It’s in Fiumicino, with the airport a short taxi ride away, though the fare is expensive. The room needed maintenance: the walls were scuffed, it looked like it needed paint, and there was worrying damp on the ceiling near the AC. For €100+ a night, the quality of the facilities and service didn’t seem to justify the high price, and the “four-star” rating felt like a stretch. It can serve its purpose if airport proximity is a must, but I’d keep expectations for the room low.

The rooftop bar’s view was spectacular, and the hotel is in a lovely spot by the water. The staff and room were fine, though the TV wouldn’t change channels, even after I stood on a chair to find the buttons on the set. There was only a bar of soap, with no other toiletries. Those things balanced out for me.
