Hotel Olimpia

It’s an older hotel, but clean and practical. The bathroom was well equipped, the bed was fairly comfortable, and having extra blankets was a nice touch. Breakfast is included and decent for the price, with several options. The air conditioning was a little noisy, and there were hardly any bedside outlets.

The location was very convenient and the hotel itself was nice. Our room had a really large bedroom, though the bathroom was narrow and tiny. The shower was just a head and curtain, and the curtain rail fell down while someone was showering. There was a small sink for washing clothes, and the toilet made a noise like a construction site. The hotel occupies the third and fourth floors, and the ancient lift meant we had to walk 9-10 flights of stairs.

Breakfast is included, and the hotel staff speak English. The rooms have high ceilings and sparse furnishings. It’s right in central Florence, within walking distance of everything, so it works well as a place to sleep, have breakfast, then head out exploring.

The best thing here is the location: on piazza della repubblica, with everything close enough to reach on foot. The reception is on the fourth floor, reached by an old iron lift when you enter the building. Staff were very friendly and helpful with whatever we needed. I think there are 16 rooms, decorated with traditional furniture and details, which I didn’t mind. The rooms were clean, and the air conditioning worked so well that we even switched it off overnight. Breakfast was basic but satisfying, with pastries, cake, pasta flora, small yogurts, bread, cheese, salami, cereal, milk, orange juice, water, and coffee from a machine. The bathroom needs renovation, especially the shower, which has no tray and a slippery floor when wet. My son also found a sock from previous guests under the air conditioner. One warning: don’t call a taxi to the train station, it charged us 25 euros. We’d go back because the rooms were clean and reception was so helpful. Thank you!
