Residence Il Sole

Just a few meters from the sea, this is a welcoming place with clean rooms and a very kind owner. Parking is the one difficulty.

The place is a little dated, but it’s in a handy spot close to everything. We stayed for a week and had a great time. The owners were friendly and courteous, and gave us a pass on arrival that let us park for free on all the blue lines in Follonica. Recommended.

Each apartment has a kitchen, which made this a great setup for a family holiday. I spent the first week of August here with my family, and the apartment was very clean. It felt a bit like home, with our own independence and a family-friendly atmosphere. The owners were helpful whenever we had a request. The place is very central, around 100 meters from the sea and about 200 meters from the center of Follonica. A friend from Milan, who used to come here often with her two children, recommended it to us.

From the terrace of our top-floor apartment, we could see the gulf and the Island of Elba all at once. Some apartments have sea views, and the whole Residence Il Sole is carefully furnished. It’s close to the historic center but in a quiet area, a good spot for a holiday in Follonica. The apartment was very clean and sanitized, as were the shared ground-floor spaces. There’s a fairly large lounge with comfortable chairs and sofas for reading or watching television. The kitchen was well laid out and had what we needed for cooking, plus a television. The bedroom was nicely furnished with a comfortable bed, and the bathroom had a shower and bidet. Free Wi-Fi is available. Beach chairs and umbrellas are available for guests to use at the public beach or at beach clubs nearby. Parking is provided with a weekly permit for a small fee. The floors, including the lobby, are furnished with care. Along with the warm welcome from the family that has run the place for generations, that makes this residence feel like an institution in Follonica. The town is charming, and Castiglione della Pescaia and Punta Ala are only a few kilometers away and easy to reach.
