The rooms were spacious and comfortable, and ours opened onto a large shared patio with views across heavily forested grounds. The whole facility seemed nearly new. We found Tenuta Montelauro on Google maps on the second day of our unscripted drive from Naples to Florence via the Amalfi Coast, when we needed somewhere to stay. I'd been curious about agritourism, so we decided to try it. They may not get many walk-in guests, and our unannounced request for two rooms for the night seemed to catch them off guard at first, but their hospitality and warmth quickly came through. They specialize in their own dry-cured meats: you choose a cut from the curing "closet," with one kilo served per couple. Even with bone-in cuts, it was plenty. Dinner also came with a generous charcuterie board and a small side salad. With dessert and two bottles of very nice local wine, the whole meal cost a little over €30 per person. Breakfast was included in the €70-per-room charge, and was just as generous and delicious. We thought it was excellent in every regard.

We visited Tenuta Montelaura in the offseason, and the owners were incredibly kind and hospitable. Flavia, the owner, even opened the kitchen for us, and we had a fantastic meal made with products from their farm and the region. Si mangia bene at Tenuta Montelaura!

The estate and its setting are lovely, and the hostess clearly knows what she's doing. On first meeting, though, she came across as aloof and very reserved, which could put off a potential customer. The food was good, but there was room to improve both it and the service. It would also be nice to give customers a little more.

The setting was beautiful, but as a restaurant experience this was disappointing. The appetizer was skimpy, and part of it was missing when it first arrived. The waiter brought the rest later, though even then it still wasn't complete. The waiter also didn't seem well trained to advise us on portions or what the dishes contained. I didn't care for the first courses, and the steak was cooked well but had a strong flavor I didn't enjoy. I hate leaving negative reviews, and I'm sure it may simply have been a bad day.

16/03/26 The grounds are lovely and green, and the dining room was clean and in good order. The staff were friendly and helpful, but the food was questionable. The dishes served in the middle of the table weren't enough for everyone, only about half the diners. Both the pasta and especially the meat arrived lukewarm. The paccheri were precooked and soft, and the meat came lukewarm and already cut up. I won't be back. In response to your reply: there weren't enough cheeses for four people, or I wouldn't have mentioned it. You fixed that right away, and thank you for doing so. You brought another portion of paccheri, but that came back too. They're precooked, since they arrived again after 6/7 minutes, and I'd already said it wasn't necessary. The meat was almost cold. I didn't say anything because I didn't want to make things more awkward. My daughters didn't have dessert. You were the ones who paid attention to the bill, I never asked you to. I was going to pay, say thanks, as I did, and leave. You have to accept feedback if you want to improve. Have a good evening.
