Hotel Villa Bernardina

Dinner with my mother was a real vacation highlight, and the best meal we had in Ischia. Maria and her family were such wonderful people. Her mother cooked us a delicious dinner and finished it with Limoncello. We had an amazing time and can't wait to come back.

After the long trip around the island, the little spa with thermal pools was a lovely place to rest, then get ready for dinner. If you eat there, expect "mama's cuisine," a homemade three-course meal from Maria's mother, a true Italian mama. The breakfast is generous, with homemade jellies, fresh Italian pastries straight from the oven, and proper Italian coffee. Be ready to arrive hungry. Our room was just right, with a comfortable bed, clean towels, and a nice clean smell each morning. From the balcony, we could look over Ischia bay while having coffee. The hotel is charming, set into the hills of Panza, just a few minutes from Baia di Sorgeto. Maria and her family worked hard from 7:00 to 22:00 to make us comfortable, welcoming us as part of the family. We found this small piece of heaven while walking through the Panza hills with no destination, feeling desperate after a hotel cancellation, rude treatment, and no hospitality. When we first arrived in Ischia, it felt like a nightmare and we thought the holiday was ruined. But Maria's house turned out to be the perfect place to rest and have our dream time on this wonderful island. Thank you all so much. We can't wait to come back. You're the best!

The thermal pools, both of them, were warm and refreshing after a day on foot. We came once in August when it was hot and again in May, which was comfortable. May is our pick for visiting and fewer crowds, though we were happy at Villa Bernardina both times. It's a cheerful home away from home, and the price can't be beat. The whole family is welcoming and takes great care of us. We love the food, especially Bernardina's cooking as chef de cuisine. We eat exclusively here when we visit. Rooms are clean and comfortable. This is our second stay, and it won't be the last.

We first came to eat here while traveling in Italy, and the meals were so good and homemade that we returned every evening. Bernardina and Maria greeted us each time. The family also brought little treats, including limonchello as a digestif, pie as a compliment, aubergines, and more. Portions are very large and can be shared. Bernardina cooks delicious traditional dishes, and the family is so hospitable that we decided we should come back and stay here, maybe next year. Highly recommend.
