Hotel Terme Zi' Carmela

My overall rating is low because, for me, food and a good night’s sleep are the basics of a hotel stay, and both let us down. The food was well below average, and the room was noisy and bright. Even with the window shut, we heard the nearby main road. The thin curtain let in a lot of light, despite the bus stop being very close and convenient. The restaurant food felt pretentious, and I wouldn’t return to it as a restaurant. Service was chaotic: there were only six salt shakers for more than 40 tables, so getting salt or pepper was a struggle, especially since the vegetable side wasn’t seasoned and everyone wanted some. One night our meal arrived cold, the potatoes were forgotten, and we couldn’t see the waiters for the entire meal. We ate the meat cold. For the price, it doesn’t compare well with other hotels in the area. The thermal pool is nice, though it could be better maintained. On Fridays, when they add the scented pool disinfectant, people end up sneezing together, so I’d avoid it that day. The room was cleaned every day, with fresh towels always provided by Liuda, the friendly and helpful cleaner. But the fridge leaked and left a brown residue, and nothing was done when we reported the loose toilet seat. Photos show the place can look good at first glance, yet feel shabby on a closer look, like a place without attentive overall management. After I posted this, they repaired the fridge and offered to fix the toilet seat. Unfortunately, it was our last day, so it was too late for us.

We stopped by for lunch as well as the spa. The indoor spa is warm and comfortable in winter, and the food was good and worth the price. The man at reception was very friendly and chatty, and spoke both English and German. Happy New Year!

Handy spot right opposite Forio harbour. The rooms are a little small, but they have a fridge and TV. There’s a restaurant, bar, massage service and swimming pool on site. The building’s layout can make it noisy.

For a three-star hotel, it’s amazing. The service is excellent, everything is very clean, and the staff are polite. The rooms are big, with a nice jacuzzi in the bedroom. I had a massage and a facial treatment, both amazing. It’s right in the center too.
