L’Ulivo

We booked a September holiday in June through a well-known B&B site. In August, we were asked to change the reservation and pay extra. When we asked why, the reply was blunt: “I'm making too little money, call me.” The prices shown had been set by her, after all, but she kept urging us to call. Soon afterward, she said we should leave the booking as it was because she'd lose money if she canceled it. We thanked her for not putting us in an uncomfortable position and left it there. Then, just a week before we were due to leave, she changed the reservation again. Shortly after that, she changed her mind and canceled it outright, giving what we thought was a ridiculous excuse that no other rooms were available. Even now, listings online show more than one room at the property, apparently at a higher price than ours. Maybe it's for the best. I'd rather stay somewhere else than spend my money with people who act so unprofessionally.

We chose the mini-apartment for a short stay in Formia. It's in a lovely spot, close to several beach clubs, shopping centers, and shops, but far enough away that the only disturbance was the sound of cicadas. The owners are delightful too. Definitely a stay I'd repeat.

The kids had plenty to do, from table football and ping pong to the play areas and even a soccer goal. We found the staff friendly without being intrusive, and everything was kept impeccably clean and well maintained. Our modern room had all the useful touches, including a coffee machine and fridge. The peaceful setting among olive trees made it a really relaxing stay. We’ll be back.

Breakfast is the part that could use some work, since it’s made up of packaged items from discount stores. The room itself was comfortable and well furnished, and the location is handy, though you need a car to get to Formia. Prices felt average.
