Hotel la Fenice

There are plenty of restaurants, pizzerias, bars, and cafes nearby, and the city center is about a 20-minute walk away. I spent three nights at La fenice in June 2015 and found it a good deal for the low price. The room was clean, and breakfast had lots to choose from, including fresh food, warm bread straight from the oven, and excellent Italian espresso. I’d happily recommend it.

I never stayed at the hotel because it was full, but the receptionist, who I believe was the owner, was very friendly and helped me find another place about four miles away. I don't speak Italian, and when I couldn't get a taxi after several companies said no, the receptionist's husband took his keys and motioned for me to follow. He drove me to the hotel his wife had booked for me. After a long day of travel, they saved me from having to walk those four miles. I'm very grateful to them.

This is a very basic hotel in Formigine's industrial area, though the staff were helpful and pleasant. My ratings: cleanliness 4/5, breakfast 4/5, staff 4/5, comfort 3/5, location 3/5, value 3/5, and facilities 2/5.

The air conditioner wasn't working, and breakfast was poor, just sweet bread with nothing else. The guy on the front desk at night seemed really unhappy.
