Hotel Goya

I’ve stayed at hotel Goya several times, and Carlo at the front desk is outstanding. The location in Forte dei Marmi is nice, with everything walkable. Breakfast is included if you stay a few nights. It’s clean, and the rooms are an okay size for Italy. I recommend it.

The price was a pleasant surprise, much lower than most places in the area, yet the stay was still great. The hotel was clean and centrally located, and the staff were helpful.

When something unexpected came up, the staff helped me sort it out completely. The location and the people were both great, and I had a great stay. I'll definitely come back.

Be careful booking here. I reserved a room for two nights, then got an email saying my American Express had been declined because it was an AMEX card. They said I had to give another payment method or lose the reservation. I didn't have another card, and their Booking.com listing said they accepted AMEX, so I was confused. Looking more closely, the main listing said yes but the fine print said they didn't accept it. I had to quickly book somewhere else for the next night. The following day they emailed to say I was a no-show for a reservation that had never been confirmed, then charged one night's stay to that same AMEX. Their message and listing had both said they couldn't take it. It seemed to me they were trying to get me to use another card to avoid AMEX fees. If they'd been upfront that they could charge the card, I wouldn't have booked another hotel, and I ended up paying for two places. They told me they'd cancel the reservation, then charged me anyway. So if you want a hotel that lies about payments and bills you for a booking it never confirmed, this is your place.
