The hotel is within walking distance of the beach, and there was a wide breakfast spread with breads, cereal, fruit and more, though the quality didn’t feel like four-star standard. We booked two rooms for my wife and our two kids. The staff tried their best to help with what they had available, and the rooms seem to have been renovated at some point, but that still doesn’t bring the hotel up to four-star level. I’ve stayed in many places in Italy, Europe and around the world, and I don’t think this hotel deserves four stars. Two stars would be fairer, with work toward a third. The rooms are poorly equipped, with only the bare basics, which is a disgrace. They were partly clean, with sand, dirt and possibly belongings left by previous guests. The air conditioning didn’t work properly. With all doors and windows shut it would run, making strange noises that could wake you, but it didn’t cool the room. The minibar fridge was stocked but didn’t chill the drinks and just made noise. There were no glasses in the rooms and no complimentary bottled water. The pool needs urgent cleaning, including the stains around the waterline and the water itself. There were no pool towels, and the pool shower had no water. Parking costs an extra €30 a day, but if you have an SUV or station wagon you may not fit inside. You might get a space in front for €15 a day; otherwise you have to look for street parking. Bikes can be rented for €14 per person per day.

The staff were the best, so kind and always willing to help. The hotel was very clean, with lovely gardens and a great pool. You can borrow a bike, and there’s free parking for 10 cars, with paid parking for the rest. The lobby is really unusual and cool, a fun place for anyone who likes different kinds of art. Great value for the service.

The hotel was clean and the rooms were spacious, but it’s odd that a double room came with towels for just one person. Breakfast wasn’t very good, with canned fruit, for example, and the coffee was awful by Italian standards. I know taste is personal, but what a shame. Our first and definitely last time in Forte dei Marmi. Off to Elba. :)

The rooms were only average, with tiny bathrooms that need updating, and the outside areas were nothing special. The entrance was the only part that seemed to meet four-star standards. But the service was the real shock: another guest’s dog attacked my dog and me on the property, and no one from the hotel came to help. The dog’s owners were rude and aggressive, and other guests were the ones who tried to step in when they confronted us violently. When we asked whether the dog was vaccinated so we could take the right medical steps, we got no information or help. Service matters in this business, and I was surprised by how poor it was.

The hotel itself was great, and the breakfast, location, and quality of everything else were all top-notch. The rooms were good too, just not great, especially when it came to size. It would definitely earn four stars from me.
