La Mela Blu

The hosts were so helpful, and the apartment stayed incredibly clean. Every morning she baked fresh croissants, and when we checked out her husband even offered us a free ride to the ferry. A wonderful place, location, and welcome. We'd absolutely recommend it.

Breakfast brought right to our balcony was a lovely way to start the day, and we really enjoyed having our own balcony and sea view. The property sits a little high up, so getting there can be a bit difficult, though there is free parking if you have a car. One thing to know: Google Maps shows it one street above the actual location. It's on the street below.

The rooms were nice and the views are beautiful, but getting around was harder than the map suggested. You're high on a mountain, with only buses or taxis unless you have a car, so plan your day or you can end up feeling stuck in the middle of nowhere. We were put in a room with a kitchen, which we hadn't wanted. We were charged an extra E20 a day for croissants and cheese, though those were gone by the time we got home. The hostess said the charge also covered a kitchen and washer, neither of which we used.

Carmela and her husband were among the nicest, most accommodating hosts I've met, and we can't recommend La Mela blu enough. The view from our room's terrace was breathtaking from the moment we arrived. Breakfast was waiting for us each morning at 7, with homemade croissants and sandwiches covered on the table so we could eat while enjoying the scenery. There were also toasts, marmalades and other spreads, plus complimentary yoghurt in the fridge. Carmela gave us all the information we needed, and daily housekeeping was impeccable, with sheets and towels changed regularly. The room was very comfortable and had WiFi, a TV and fridge, plus a bar area for coffee and other drinks. We'll be back 😊
