Hotel Plaza Gabicce Mare

Avoid this place. I've stayed here since May 1st, and it was a bad experience. On arrival, I found ants all over the bed, in the closets, on my clothes, under the fridge, and across the floor. I asked to switch rooms, but was told there was no availability, so I had to put up with it for two days. On the third day they moved me to a very small, dirty room. When I asked for a refund, they offered me a dessert instead. Prices are high and quality is poor. I don't recommend it at all. Avoid it 100%.

We stayed three nights, and the experience was awful. On the day we left, there was nobody at reception, and the hotel felt completely short on welcome, cleanliness, and amenities. It was more like a rooming house than a three-star hotel. A shame, because people come to relax, not get upset. We were lucky to have a car and be able to get around, since staying at the hotel would otherwise have been a bigger problem. We arrived Friday at 2 pm and were first given a room where the roller shutter was missing. They moved us, only for us to find the new room hadn't been cleaned, with black, dirty sheets and dust all over the floor. We were out the next day and politely asked for a thorough clean. When we came back at 6:30 pm, nothing had been done. Reception is often left unattended, so we called. The girl came, had us move all our luggage out of the other room, and then left us waiting about 20 minutes. She returned with the wrong key. After around 40 minutes of going back and forth, she finally got us the right key to a room that was, strangely, clean. They need to take things seriously and bring in some discipline.

We booked through Booking.com and got an immediate confirmation. Two hours later, a message said there was no availability, but the reservation itself wasn't canceled. If we hadn't noticed and followed up, we wouldn't have been able to get a refund, even though the problem wasn't our fault. I don't want to make a serious accusation, but it looks a lot like a scheme to take money. That's only speculation, of course, but the situation seemed suspicious.

The beach was close, which was the one good thing. I stayed here a few months ago and paid an exorbitant price for a hotel that wasn't worth it. We only had breakfast included, thankfully, because that was bad enough: a meager, sad buffet that stopped being replenished after a while. The brioches were hard as marble, and old leftovers from previous days had no labels at all, so you had to guess the fillings. The coffee was undrinkable and hygiene was very poor. More than once, waiters tried to seat us at dirty tables, and they responded unpleasantly when we complained. Vittorio was especially bad. After an argument over his lack of respect and professionalism, he even shoved me. We also had to change rooms because of several problems, including a shower that wouldn't turn off and flooded everything. The room was small and poorly soundproofed.
