Birdsong, rustling trees, and a clean pool make this quiet house a great place to relax. It’s at the end of a road with no traffic. There’s another rental next door under the same owner, but it doesn’t intrude. One thing to know is that the road up is gravel and very steep, around 14-15 percent. You rent the whole house, but only after booking are you told that a family with a child lives there permanently. They’re friendly, have their own entrance, and live upstairs, though none of this is mentioned on the booking form.

The house is clean and well equipped, in a quiet spot, and there’s a contact person who’ll sort out anything you need the same day. It’s hard to ask for more from a holiday home. Just keep in mind that the driveway isn’t suited to sports cars. An SUV or four-wheel drive is helpful, though any car that isn’t low to the ground should make it up without trouble.

It’s a lovely stone villa among the vineyards of Gaiole in Chianti, with generous spaces. The living room has a fabulous fireplace, the kitchen is roomy, and each bedroom has its own bathroom. It’s also well placed for exploring the rolling Chianti hills on foot or by car.

Bernardino Bausani was a friendly, reliable, and helpful host, and we had a wonderful stay. The spacious house has Tuscan charm, a pool, and a pergola right beside it. It sits above Gaiole with gorgeous views over the Tuscan countryside. We’d happily return anytime. Thank you, Bernardino!
