Rocca di Castagnoli

The castle has incredible views and plenty of charm, and the pool is great. Breakfast was fantastic too. The only letdown was our AC, which didn’t work as well as it did in our friends’ rooms. Be sure to do a wine tasting, their person really knows their stuff.

Our room was inside the fortress, with a beautiful view across the vineyards to the Tuscan mountains. I can’t imagine finding a room quite like it elsewhere. Alessandro, Sara, and Angelo were welcoming and friendly from the moment we arrived, and made us feel at home. It was the most memorable place we’ve stayed. Come here for warm hospitality, perfect wine, and an authentic experience in the Chianti Classico region.

We were a group of eight and felt looked after from the moment we arrived. The restaurant serves food at a very high standard, and our waiter was excellent too. The rooftop terrace has a lovely view and is a great place to share a bottle of wine late in the evening. We stayed in the Julia "suite," which was rustic and full of character, with great beds. If you’re going for a wine tasting, ask for Sarah. She’s knowledgeable and really service minded. The scenery, food, and wine here are all fantastic. We hope to return someday.

The welcome and check-out at reception could be better. Guests make a big trip to get here and spend a lot of money, so those parts of the stay matter. The village fortifications have been beautifully adapted, and the rooms are nicely renovated, comfortable enough for a country setting. There’s an excellent restaurant on site for lunch and dinner, and wine tastings can be arranged there if you book ahead. Ask for Nicola as your sommelier. He’s knowledgeable and a delight, and will make your day. There are great wines to try here.
