Palazzo Garibaldi - Luxury Suites

A very comfortable place in a one-of-a-kind location. A must go!

The B&B Palazzo Garibaldi is in one of the old, prestigious palaces in Galatina’s historic center, just by the main square in front of the Duomo. The town itself is beautiful, ancient, and charming, and this spot puts you right in the middle of the nightlife. That central position comes at a cost: loud noise and music carried on all night, and earplugs didn’t help us sleep. Breakfast was rather meager too. You can have it at the bar, but on our last day, Tuesday, the bar happened to be closed. With so many B&Bs in the historic center, I don’t think the beauty of this location makes up for the drawbacks. The disturbing noise disappears just 20 meters from the square.

It was difficult to get to sleep during the week of the “street festivals,” with loud music continuing until 4 a.m. Parking was another headache. There’s no parking at the property, so we left the car in an unmarked alley about 1 km away. Parking on a white line got us a hefty fine the next morning. If you stay in Galatina, bring a parking disc and be patient. Breakfast also fell short. We expected the usual generous breakfast when traveling, but instead received vouchers for one pastry and one drink each. The quality wasn’t very good for what we paid. Luckily, we found a bakery very close by where we ate decently. The facility itself is beautiful, simple, and modern, with lovely attention to detail. But during our week there, the cleaning was never thorough: the floors weren’t swept and the bathroom wasn’t cleaned. They only made the bed, and the sheets were never changed. The two owners were also very absent. We saw them when we arrived, then they disappeared. At the end of the stay, they didn’t ask how things had gone or even whether we had left. It’s a shame, because they’re two young women with a beautiful property, and with the right attention they could reach a very high standard.

Every detail in this beautiful property feels carefully chosen, and the rooms are clean and elegant. Our suite looked out over the splendid St. Peter's Square, which gave it a charming feel. Highly recommended, right in the center of Galatina.
