The mattresses had mites, and that made my holiday a nightmare. I raised it with the staff, but nobody offered to replace the mattress or even vacuum it. I ended up buying acaricide spray myself and cycling to a pharmacy in Gallipoli, where I also got antihistamines and ointments. I took antibiotics too. I’d kept coming back for five years, booking the same two-room apartment in Baia Verde, rented by CarlinoTourist and part of the Risberg Hotel, which belongs to the same owner. I had a romantic reason for sticking with it. The apartment was spacious and airy, with decent basics, though it was too basic for my taste.
