Palazzo Mongiò

The apartments are very clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. The location works well for exploring Gallipoli. There was no WiFi in the room and not one TV channel, though.

Just beautiful. The best four-star hotel in Gallipoli, really nothing else to add.

The location was the best part, relatively close to the Old Town. We stayed nine nights in July, but the apartment furnishings all need replacing, and it felt like no investment had been made. There was no parking space for the property. You had to hope to get lucky and find somewhere nearby. The website had plenty of rules, but the many teenagers there didn't follow them. Twice I had to ask staff to intervene because we couldn't sleep, with shouting and furniture being dragged around overhead. Later nights were a little quieter, but there was no quiet time and we still woke up several times in the middle of the night. It felt like nobody cared once we'd paid. We got no apartment cleaning or service. The bedding and towels were never changed, the toilet paper wasn't replenished, and we had to take out the trash ourselves. On arrival, I also found the receptionist spoke only Italian, not any English. I know the apartment is in Italy, but the website is in English, so I expected someone at the desk to speak it or at least try to communicate.

Gallipoli's location is convenient for getting to the city center in the evening, and there are some really beautiful beaches nearby. But parking is a matter of luck every time. The property has potential, though the cleanliness isn't up to scratch: the kitchen was in an appalling state, the sofa was stained, the faucets had limescale that could have come off with a little product, and there was a lot of dust. Small room windows looked onto the hallway, so whenever someone switched on the light, it shone into the room despite the curtains. The soundproofing was awful too. The apartment still needs work to reach a good standard.
