Hotel Marco Polo

It was an okay stay overall, and the pools were nice. The outdoor pool restaurant had a lovely view, though I didn’t eat there because it seemed a bit pricey compared with the village, about a 15-minute walk away. The place needs more upkeep. Our first room was really outdated, with stains on the bathroom fixtures and a bathroom door that looked as if it had been forced open and wouldn’t close. After we asked at the front desk, they moved us to a nicer room with a balcony of its own. That felt like an upgrade, or what we thought we’d booked in the first place. The booking site also didn’t mention that there was no Wi-Fi in the rooms, only in the upstairs main area around reception and the food halls.

The food was great, and the staff were very friendly, especially in the restaurant. Really nice hotel. We just missed having AC in the rooms.

We arrived without a reservation, and the manager gave us a room at a low price. The hotel is a little dated, but it’s clean and well run. There are two pools, and a small supermarket in the corner of the chalet complex carries the basic things you need. The main hotel has a restaurant, and there’s another one on the grounds, LA Loda, serving excellent, genuine Italian food at competitive prices. It’s very child friendly, and we’d recommend it if you want to relax and enjoy the surroundings. The one downside for us was that they don’t take credit cards, and there’s no way to withdraw cash.

The service didn’t feel very friendly, and the staff spoke little English. Carrying the keys around was awkward, too. The locks were a bit broken, the walls were so thin we could hear people talking in the next room, and it was extremely cold even in summer. The food was alright, but needed more seasoning.
