Our family of five rented both floors of the house for a week in July, and the garden’s table tennis and table football kept the kids busy every day. We also rode the bicycles Eva and Adi provide to explore Gargazon and the nearby valley. The house sits at the edge of the historic village, in the Etsch/Adige Valley between Merano and Bolzano, making it an easy base for skiing or hiking in the Dolomites, the thermal spas in Merano or Gargazon’s natural pool, and gardens such as Trauttmansdorff Castle. These places are a short drive away, and some are reachable by bike. The home has a playful feel, with regional arts and crafts throughout, including some pieces Adi made, plus bold, fun artwork and lighting. It’s very comfortable. The spacious kitchen is well equipped, as you’d expect from a retired chef’s home, and we cooked many meals there. Eva and Adi also left fresh bread, ice cream, and juice for our arrival. They know the region well and were kind and helpful with suggestions for things to do and local restaurants. They’re the perfect hosts.

The apartment was huge, quiet, spotlessly clean, and charmingly furnished, with a living room, kitchen, two bedrooms, a balcony, and a bathroom. Eva and Adi also gave us access to their big garden, which our 15-month-old loved, and so did we. They made us feel like part of the family. Adi cooked dinner for us when we asked, and he’s a top-notch chef. Breakfast was delicious, with lots of homemade food, and there was nearly as much homemade ice cream as we could eat. The house is in a lovely spot in South Tirol, conveniently between Bolzano and Merano. We stayed a week this year and had one of our most relaxing vacations. We’ll definitely come back, and may even make it an annual tradition. Top marks, and a huge thank you!

The garden (Eden) was a highlight, with beautiful spots to sit and relax, and we also enjoyed the homemade ice cream, cakes, and juices. There’s salad and fruit growing there too. Adi and Eva’s place made our South Tyrol vacation wonderful. It’s in the idyllic little village of Gargazon, between Bolzano and Merano, and the hosts are so welcoming we felt at home. Our upstairs apartment was cozy and individually decorated, with lovely attention to detail and a private space that had everything we needed. The huge bed was so comfortable we almost wanted to take it home. The kitchen was fully equipped, which makes sense since Adi used to be a chef. Families can easily cook there, though we let Adi cook for us instead. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely return. Alexandra Daniel & Baby Karla

Eva and Adi are warm, attentive hosts who offered helpful ideas for what to do. Their holiday apartment felt a bit like coming home, with everything we needed and lots of lovely, thoughtful furnishings. Fresh flowers, fragrant braided bread baked by Adi, homemade jam, and a liqueur were waiting for us when we arrived. We also enjoyed tomatoes and herbs from the beautiful garden. It’s a peaceful place away from the city bustle, but still easy to reach lovely walks and other places by bus. We had a wonderful time. Thank you, Eva and Adi!
