Hotel Livia

The hotel grounds are gorgeous, with palm and orange trees, tidy lawns, herbs, succulents, and their own limonaia where they grow lemons. The warm orange blossom scent around the hotel is a memory I’ll keep forever. Gargnano is adorable and not too touristy, with a picturesque boulevard, lovely restaurants, beautiful views, and friendly people. It’s about a five-minute walk, though you have to cross a very busy road and walk alongside it for 100 meters without a sidewalk before reaching Via Colette, which leads into town. Hotel Livia also has extensive parking, a rare find by Lake Garda. The staff were very kind, though I only met them at check-in and check-out, and the gentleman who helped me spoke Italian, German, and English very well. I booked Apartment Kiwi. It looked a bit small in the pictures, but was surprisingly large, with a big bathroom, large bedroom, small living area, and a spacious 2 m x 2 m balcony overlooking Lake Garda. My only room comment is that the little pull-out couch looks very dated, a bit 80's.

We could leave our bags after check-out and even wait for our friends by the pool, which was lovely. The garden and pool are really nice, breakfast was good, and the staff were super friendly. Great location too. I recommend staying here!

Nothing much to complain about: the newer rooms are lovely, parking is handy, and the pool was good. The staff were really attentive too. One small thing, noise from next door can carry if you have loud neighbors. Also, the USB and power sockets beside the bed make a steady electrical sound, about 30 cm from your head. My wife stopped noticing it, and I wore earplugs.

The free internet could be faster and more reliable, but otherwise this was a great place to stay. Breakfast has a wide selection, from eggs, meat, fruit and nuts to oils and other tasty things, with espresso or filter coffee. The rooms are clean and comfortable, with an enjoyable design. You can relax by the roughly 17 m outdoor pool or head to the beach about 50 m away. The lakeside setting and little village nearby make a lovely base for exploring. Bigger villages for day-to-day needs or excursions are 15-20 minutes away by car. 👍🏼
