The menu celebrates Gattinara with lovely food and wine, and dinner was amazing. Our waiter was incredibly welcoming and hospitable, and really took good care of us.

The food was okay, but I wouldn’t recommend giving this man more money if you care about human rights. The waiter/owner made very racist comments to my brown-skinned partner, including telling him not to order the chocolate cake because he already had so much brown on him. He kept commenting on my partner’s appearance and seemed to think we should laugh at his jokes. When we asked for the bill, he gave us a random amount. We paid, then I asked for an itemized bill. He started acting strangely, as if he didn’t know how to use the card machine, and said his daughter had forgotten to add an extra charge to the “new” menu, which was why he had overcharged us. He repeatedly said Italians, including himself, were above everyone else on the planet.

You can get local meals at the restaurant. The room was large and great for the price. For less noise, it’s better to stay on the courtyard side than the street, which can get noisy at night.
