The listing left us expecting something different. There were just two beds, both in one room, and that setup wasn’t clear from the photos. The bigger problem was the state of the place: a heavy musty smell lingered throughout, even with the door left open to air it out. The beds were dirty, with hair on them, and it looked like the linens hadn’t been changed properly. The owners should put more effort into keeping the apartment clean and comfortable for guests instead of making it look perfect online.

The apartment had a large room, but that was the only good part of our stay. The bed was uncomfortable and dirty, the pillows were old, and we couldn’t change the sheets, which smelled of someone else’s perfume. The blankets were ruined, with cigarette burns, and the bathroom was filthy and in such bad shape we didn’t want to touch anything. The four of us couldn’t sleep, and the children stayed dressed to avoid the germs. The manager seemed indifferent and interested only in the money. The price was excessive even though it wasn’t high season, and you can find much better places for less. Never again, I strongly advise against it. We arrived at midnight with our two children, aged 2 and 9. We aren’t local and couldn’t work out how to get there, even with Google Maps. The property is only reachable on foot, through the alleys of Genoa, which we found very dangerous and dirty. We waited in the cold outside for an hour, then called the property and got directions and warnings over the phone. An hour later the manager opened the door, called us in, and everything was fine.

The location was the one good thing. Almost none of the room’s outlets worked, the hygiene was awful, and I didn’t even check whether the sheets were clean because I didn’t want to make myself feel sick. The coffee maker had no water, and the double bed squeaked so badly it felt unreliable.

The room looked clean at first, but there was hair on the sheets, which raised concerns about hygiene. After our first night, both of us had bites all over our bodies. A doctor later said they were consistent with mites or bed bugs. We had to start antibiotics, cortisone, and a specific cream. We’re attaching photos of the bites as evidence. This caused physical discomfort and worry, and we feel it needs to be reported to protect future guests.
