The owner was generous with local advice, and we had no problems during our week there. We paid AUD$201 a night with breakfast included. The apartment is a short walk from a bus that takes you to the main areas. We were comfortable in the roomy bedroom with its king-size bed, as well as the lounge and dining space and small kitchen. We couldn't cook, but we made salad at home with things from the shop downstairs. The host even did our washing. We stayed in May 2016, on the fifth floor of the former Grand Hotel, a beautiful building with wonderful views over Genoa's port. One apartment sleeps four. We shared it with lovely guests on our first and last nights, and had it to ourselves for the rest of the week.

The owner clearly cares about this apartment, which came across when we met at check-in. We enjoyed our stay more than at the apartments we'd tried in Rome and Florence, and found our favorite here in Genoa. It's in a hillside palace beside the station, recently renovated and furnished beautifully with a mix of pieces. The kitchen equipment is new, and the seafood we bought at the market was prepared deliciously for us.

We loved staying here. The apartment is clean, very spacious, and fully renovated, with two large bedrooms that each have their own bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen. It's only a few meters from the Prince's Palace and the train station. The building itself is lovely: it was Genoa's Grand Hotel Miramare, built in the first decade of the 20th century, and the entrance door, hall, floors, doors, and corridors are original from that time. Highly recommended.
