Hotel Cantore Genova

For a three-star place, it’s excellent and well worth it.

There are lots of places to eat nearby, and the main shopping centre is close too. Getting into the centre takes about 45 minutes on foot, which is manageable, though it feels longer in the heat. Buses and trains offer plenty of ways to get there, and the Metro is around a 15-minute walk away. The room was a decent size, very clean, and had what I needed. The bed was comfortable, though the bedding could be a bit better. The bathroom was spacious and spotless, with a decent shower. There were a few plumbing issues, nothing major, but some small upgrades are due. Staff were all super friendly, especially the young woman at breakfast, and the breakfast selection was excellent. I’d happily stay again.

The place was clean overall and in a good location. Parking costs a lot, and the Wi-Fi didn't work at all during our stay, which was very inconvenient while travelling without mobile data.

The hotel is a long way from the city centre, and I wouldn't stay here again. I strongly advise against it. Noise came through the walls clearly, including TVs from other rooms, and my room smelled strongly of cigarettes. There was no fridge. The bed had a blanket instead of a duvet, and the breakfast was so inadequate that I skipped it on the second morning. On the third morning I had to drive before breakfast opened, though I doubt I would have gone anyway. Parking is available, but the setup isn't great. You have to go into the hotel to get a gate clicker, and the parking spaces beyond it are extremely narrow. Maybe eight cars could fit if everyone parked carefully, which of course doesn't always happen. Getting the clicker was also troublesome on a busy street.
