Hotel La Capannina

Hafid's kind, attentive service made our stay at La Capannina Hotel more enjoyable. He was professional, always cheerful, and quick to help, and his dedication made us feel comfortable and welcome. The owner sent me a rude private message after I posted an honest review, instead of addressing the problems. That felt very unprofessional. The room had no fridge or outlet by the bed, the furniture was worn, and the doors were peeling. The air conditioner didn't work, so I had to leave the window open despite the constant road noise. There was no soundproofing either. I could hear neighbors talking and children running up and down the stairs all night. The shower was dirty and moldy, and the curtains had turned yellow, as if they hadn't been washed in years. By 9 a.m. breakfast was nearly gone, with only coffee, tea, and a few pastries left, so I had to buy breakfast elsewhere.

We travelled as a family of four, two adults and two children, and stayed from 7th to 10th August, then returned for one more night on August 14th. The helpful staff even arranged extra beds for us. Rooms were adequate and generally comfortable, with convenient bathrooms, and the buffet breakfast was good and fairly adequate. Parking is available, though limited, as it is in much of mainland Europe. The residential Genoa location was convenient. During summer, Italy's air conditioning limitations mean the units are set to 24, so rooms can get a little hot in the daytime. We thought the stay was good value and would recommend it.

The staff were attentive and professional, and went out of their way to make the stay special. We found the hotel's central location handy for exploring the city, and our spacious, well-appointed room was a comfortable place to wind down. We had a fantastic time and will definitely return.
