Laxmi was warm and open, happy to offer advice about anything and even Indian dishes from her own cookbook. Breakfast was quite basic. The guesthouse was clean throughout, nicely furnished and decorated, and the shared bathroom was cleaned daily. I loved starting and ending busy sightseeing days on the huge roof terrace, looking out over the city. It felt peaceful and spiritual, a place to lift your spirits. Getting there from the main station meant an 18-minute walk up all those stairs, which became my daily workout, though an elevator or bus can help. Piazza Principe trains take you to the beaches, and the funiculare goes to the old town, so it works well as a base for exploring Genoa.

The room had a tiny bed and wasn't bright enough, and breakfast was very poor. I was upset that the listing said card payment was possible, but the host asked us for cash there. On the first night, asking for the air conditioner remote was met with hostility.

We picked the place for the roof view, which was awesome, and the stay was pretty good overall. Still, I think the price is too high for what you get. Breakfast was very simple, just one pancake and tea per person, and using the air conditioner cost an extra 10 €, which wasn't mentioned. There's no kitchen for cooking.

We stayed at Laxmi's in June, and she canceled our booking while we were still at her house. She asked us to deny it if Booking called. I understand the commission may be high, but that's part of the deal. We didn't feel comfortable there either. The breakfast wasn't good, seeming like leftovers from previous guests, and the table and dishes were dirty. There's no parking, just public spaces along the street.

We stayed for five days and found the accommodation really nice and clean. The view from her roof was amazing, and we spent our evenings up there. I left something important behind, and Laxmi sent it back to me. She's such a friendly, lovely person.
