Marathon Hostel

The city center was walkable, and the beach took about 20 minutes on foot or a quick five-minute drive. There are plenty of attractions, points of interest, and parks around the hotel. Our room had a breathtaking view, especially at night, and the facilities were clean and well ventilated. Air conditioning made the +37-degree heat bearable. Breakfast had a satisfying range of choices, and Gabriel made excellent individual coffees. Rosaria and Gabriel were the highlight, though. Their genuine care and attention made us feel like family throughout the stay. When we return to Genoa, we'll stay with them, without a doubt. The hosts were very nice and helpful, and the uphill position gave us an outstanding view of Genova. The accommodation is interesting, set in enormous apartments that seem ancient. Our main disappointment may be the lack of air conditioning in the rooms. We slept with the window open and heard the famous Genova emergency sirens rolling across the city every 15-20 minutes. With little kids, be careful opening the windows, since the apartments are on the top floor.

The breakfast was bad, with greasy croissants and fake orange juice that didn't convince me. Otherwise, the place was okay. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, and there was A/C. It's about a 20-minute walk to the old port, and the view is great.

The view from the room is beautiful, and the location is close to Geneva's center. There's no air conditioning, and the breakfast room can't fit more than three guest rooms at once, though the hotel has at least four. The external bathroom may be the one in the corridor used by the official hotel kitchen. Don't be startled by the barking dog on your way to the toilet. The B&B-Hotel is on the sixth floor of an old flat, with a very old wooden lift that may be unavailable if other guests leave its door open. Parking is street pay-and-display. They offer a resident screen paper for 2€/h, even on free days, so be careful.
