I booked through Booking.com on February 14 for August 15-22, and the reservation was confirmed and paid in full. Then on April 1 I got a notice that the host had cancelled without warning. When I contacted them, they said the apartment had been sold. They offered another apartment, but it was already booked for my dates, so it wasn’t a usable option. I’d already bought plane tickets. Because of the late cancellation, I had to find somewhere else at prices much higher than they were in February. The refund came through PayPal, but the way it was handled was highly unprofessional. There was no timely communication or valid alternative, and I found the host unreliable. I wouldn’t recommend them.

Take your time inside this stunning building. It’s easy to spend half an hour there, especially in St John's chapel. Sit down and look closely at the details.

The apartment is small, but it was just right for a long weekend with my mother. We were close to everything in the city center, and the woman who welcomed us was kind and helpful. It’s tucked away from the noisy alleys, which was nice, and it felt like good value for a trip to Genoa and the surrounding area. It’s on the ground floor, so convenient, though we could hear other residents going by with suitcases and other things. The water heater made some noise, but unplugging it fixed that.
