Zen House

The air conditioning was weak.

Daniele, the owner, was kind and helpful, and this is a great base for a short stay in Genoa. The apartment is on the second floor of a beautiful historic building behind Piazza San Lorenzo, just steps from San Giorgio metro station. There’s no elevator. The large bedroom and living area has two low double beds in a Zen style, which we found comfortable, with pillows and blankets provided. There’s also a big wooden table, and a screen conceals the heating and air conditioning. We didn’t use the small kitchenette. The bathroom is small but well equipped, with a shower and toilet/bidet. It’s a bit cramped in there, but everything was clean and well kept. Wi-Fi, a smart TV, and Netflix were a nice bonus.

The bedroom is part of the living room, which I recommend. It’s a very nice place, though the bathroom and kitchen are separated by a door that lets bad odors through, and both rooms have low ceilings.

We slept well, and the room is right in the city center, making it a fantastic choice for the price. The air conditioning worked moderately well, and the little bathroom was cramped. The kitchen, which the host jokingly calls a “cooking palace,” doesn’t look like much fun.
