UNA Hotels Naxos Beach Sicilia

The food really stood out, especially the huge, varied buffet at breakfast and dinner. Everything was excellent, and the desserts were hard to stop eating. The staff were fantastic, and the atmosphere was lovely. We had a wonderful week and wished we could stay longer. The views of Mount Etna and Taormina are amazing, and the shuttle to Taormina was very reasonably priced. It's a great family hotel, with plenty to do and a lovely beach, though it's stony, so bring water shoes. Naxos is about a 15-minute walk away. One small drawback: getting from the villas to the main restaurant can take a while, and we found ourselves meeting golf buggies on the paths. You get used to them, but separate walking and buggy paths would be nice.

The setting is beautiful, with lovely trees, walking paths, quiet spots, and the sea close by. The patios are great for relaxing, especially the upstairs ones. But for €300 a night, I expected more. Some rooms have ants throughout, the TV in mine had no sound and a terrible picture, and the pillows were flat and very uncomfortable. I also paid £35 for lunch at the hotel and found the food, selection, and service terrible. There was no menu, and staff didn't communicate well. A short walk down the street, you can find much better food and service for less. It's a nice resort, but not a great one for the price. There are pros and cons, though at this cost I'd expect more positives than negatives.

The grounds are beautiful, and there's plenty to do on site. We went in early May, when a lot of things were closed, but we knew that beforehand. Our room was great, cleaned every day, with lots of fresh towels. The food was good too, and I don't usually like buffets, but it was fresh and changed each night. The staff and service were lovely. The area outside the hotel looks a little run down, possibly because storms earlier this year damaged a lot of infrastructure. One thing to know about the garden rooms: there are a lot of mosquitos, so bring repellent and bite cream. Our little boy got bitten quite a bit. Reception was very helpful, gave us plug-ins, and offered to move us if things got worse. I loved the hotel and would go back anywhere in the world.

The people working here were really nice, and we had lovely views of Etna and the sea. We had a brilliant week with our two children. There was enough for them to do, and we could relax too. The food was excellent. Town is only a short walk away, and other nearby places are also close.
