Filippone Hotel & Ristorante

Those mountain trails out front were great for a jog, and the friendly dogs added to the stay. The lobby was a nice place to come back to, especially with its cozy fireplace. The setting is beautiful and the restaurant is very good, but the room had so few outlets that I had to charge my things on the floor by the door. I wound up sitting cross-legged there to finish some work emails. Not ideal.

The food out in the front garden during our summer family event was beyond words, both in quality and quantity. The owner went above and beyond to make sure we were happy throughout the experience. It's in an incredible spot at the edge of the Parco Nazionale d'Abruzzo, and it also operates as a hotel. The Abruzzese cuisine is authentic. I'd give it 7 stars if I could!

The restaurant food was delightful, and our room always smelled clean. Everything felt fresh and clean, and the staff and management were polite, kind, and accommodating. Filipone Hotel & Restaurant is a hidden gem in the small, quiet village of Gioia dei Marsi. This family clearly knows how to run a business. I hope to come back for a vacation as soon as I can.

We used this hotel regularly while working locally over a three-year period, and I also chose it for trips with my family. Franco makes you feel like part of his family. The evening meals have to be seen to be believed, and our room was very comfortable with nothing wrong for a hotel of this standard. Give it a try for dinner, or better yet, take a break in the national park.
