Hotel Castello

The location comes with fairytale views. A few costs weren't mentioned in the hotel presentation: beach towel rental was 5 EUR each, and a beach sunbed plus umbrella cost 40/30/20 EUR per day for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd lines from the sea.

We had a really enjoyable stay at hotel Castello, especially thanks to the friendly, helpful staff who also helped arrange activities. The rooms were good and perfectly clean, and the hotel is right by a nice beach. We even had a beautiful view at breakfast. Breakfast was fine, and they had soy milk for vegans. We went at the beginning of the season, in early May, so a couple of restaurants were still closed. You could easily grab a pizza and eat it on the beach, though restaurants weren't very suited to vegans.

Gina at the front desk was kind and very helpful. The rest of our experience left a lot to be desired. We stayed during July 2025. The hotel advertises a large complex and a pool by ocean-side properties, but although it's on the beach, the pool isn't part of the complex. Local apartments have someone on duty to kick hotel guests out if they try to swim there. Aside from Gina, most staff were rude and unaccommodating. You have to reserve a beach lounge chair to stay on the beach, and towels cost extra. I've worked in hospitality and had never heard of that. They also refused to lend us a bottle opener for wine, despite our having paid for food and drink all day on multiple days. The lifeguard was more of a nuisance than helpful. He was unwelcoming even though we'd reserved two loungers, yelled at us for not clearing away trash from food and drinks we'd bought at the hotel, and closed all the umbrellas at the first hint of wind on a hot, sunny day. If you want a barebones hotel on the beach that charges extra for everything and misleads in its advertising, this may suit you. Otherwise, I'd avoid it.

Golfo Aranci was less hectic than other parts of the island, and there are plenty of beaches close to Hotel Castello. The location is great for a family with young kids, and free parking was a nice bonus. The staff were incredibly friendly. The hotel could use some updating, especially a more comfortable bed and bathroom renovations. Breakfast could be improved with more vegetarian options. Still, we had a lovely stay.
