There’s a pomegranate orchard right behind the house, and the rooms have elegant old furnishings. This 300-year-old farm is tucked behind wisteria. Such a magical place.

I first stayed overnight and still remember the breakfast and the atmosphere fondly. That’s what brought me back for lunch. The place is charming, with so much care in the details and love in it, like stepping back in time and finding a refuge for the soul. The welcome was still warm, though some dishes let me down: the gnocchi were too hard and the cured meats mediocre. The frozen zabaglione was delicious. I’ll come back like a dear aunt who spoils you and wraps you in affection, to wander off again in that enchanted garden.
