We went during harvest and were welcomed with real warmth and plenty of time to taste every wine in detail. Filippo led the tasting, looked after us well, and answered all our questions. Beforehand, I’d emailed Filippo, whom we’d met at a wine festival two years earlier. Fattoria di Lamole is a small winery, producing a low five-figure number of bottles each year. Its delicate wines capture the terroir of Lamole beautifully. They’re made with drinkability in mind, so they’re more acidic, and they’re aged for at least six years before release. To me, the wines from Fattoria di Lamole are unique and worth the trip.
