Hotel Villa Montegranelli

At around €80 for a double room, depending on how you book, the price is incredible for the quality and service. The staff are ultra-professional, and nothing seems too much trouble. Breakfast had 28 food items by my count, treating all the breads and yoghurts as one item each, and you can also dine there. It's a villa with breathtaking architecture and artwork, set on a hill in nature with a gorgeous view over Gubbio, only 3.5 km away. I've travelled a lot, and this has to be the best hotel I've ever stayed in.

You need a car to visit Gubbio, since the place is 3.5km from town. I loved how cozy and vintage it felt, and it was clean, with a fantastic Breakfast. The staff were all friendly and helpful. For digital nomads, there's wifi at reception; they also provide convertible adapters for the wires if needed, including if you can't plug in your phone.

The building is great, the view is lovely, and the person at reception was very nice. But I was really disappointed after choosing this hotel based on good comments. The bedding was bad, with a very poor mattress and linen, and the soundproofing was awful, so you could hear everything from other rooms even at night. My room was cold and humid, maybe because the heater was out of order. The bathroom was tiny and bad, with a slow-flow shower, and the windows were very dirty. I personally didn't like breakfast: there was a lot of choice, but it was tasteless and poor quality, and the butter seemed kind of rancid. I don't recommend the hotel despite the great view and building.

We had an awful experience and wouldn't recommend this place, with or without a child. On our first night we arrived late and ate at the hotel with our 18 month old. The high chair had nothing to keep him in place, so we had to hold him on our knees. The next day, wasps had infested the pool and we couldn't use it. There was no wifi or any kind of phone signal in the hotel. After staying two nights at a friend's nearby, we came back on the fourth day before a wedding and asked to put a cot in an adjoining room so the baby could sleep from 1-3pm while we changed. They agreed, but said we'd have to pay for a full night's room even though we only needed it for two hours and wouldn't use the facilities. Staff were okay for the most part, depending on who was at reception. It wasn't at all child friendly.
