Park Hotel ai Cappuccini

I loved unwinding by the fire with a coffee or glass of wine after dinner, and the restaurant was a real highlight. The team there were amazing and knew how to handle food allergies. Breakfast was good too, with attentive staff, though I wish there had been a separate toaster or another way to heat the packaged gluten-free bread. I didn't use the spa. The grounds are lovely, the rooms are a good size, and the beds were comfortable. The hotel is a 17th-century convent converted into a hotel, and the setting is picturesque. The cold nights at the start of October were a problem. My room felt freezing, and when I asked the front desk twice about the heat, they brought me a blanket. It was still very cold whenever I got out of bed. A member of my travel group asked for a small heater on our last night, and I think I might have gotten very sick without it. I also feel the lack of heat is why some of our companions got sick. I do recommend the hotel and would stay again.

Coming back to the Park Hotel ai Cappuccini feels like returning to our place in Italy. The staff welcome us like family after we've been away, and they do so much to make each visit special and memorable. The food and spa are among the best too.

At the prices they charge, I expected better service. The front desk staff made us feel like an inconvenience when we approached, and the lack of interaction was hard to miss. Breakfast was another letdown: nobody acknowledged guests, both coffee pots were empty, and we had to flag down staff for a cappuccino and again to get more coffee brewed. Even the lobby bathroom was difficult to find, down a dark hallway to an even darker entrance.

The grounds are beautiful, and the spot is ideal for views and getting to Gubbio. They even left a chilled bottle of wine in our room at check-in. The hotel has been renovated really well, with something interesting around every corner. We chose half board, so breakfast and dinner were included. Breakfast was amazing and we took our time over it; dinner was great as well, with a lovely serving team. Service was great throughout. If we come back to Gubbio, I wouldn't stay anywhere else.
