Conad is close by, and Imperia and the nearest beach are about 10-15 minutes away by car. You’ll want a rental car. The apartment sits in a quiet spot in the hills above Imperia, with lovely views, and there’s plenty of room: three double bedrooms plus a pullout sofa in the lounge. The kitchen and bathroom are fairly new and have some modern conveniences. The owner and his father were friendly and helpful, and made us feel welcome. Parking is the drawback. You can’t leave the car next to the house, and the walk up is steep, though we got used to it. We’d happily stay again.

The hillside streets are quite steep, so keep that in mind if walking is difficult. The house itself is charming, in a mountain village, with wide panoramic views. It’s a lovely choice for peaceful surroundings and scenery.

The people up here are nice, but getting to the apartment means walking through narrow lanes and stairways, with some very steep stretches. There are only a few parking spots, and some are awkward to reach. The place is really cramped, with rooms that sometimes lead through one another, and there isn’t enough closet space. Six people would be the absolute limit, and even then it feels tight. It didn’t feel suitable for families. The Wi-Fi wasn’t working, and the cutlery and coffee maker were dirty. There were loads of mosquitoes and sand flies, and window screens would have helped. We also found what may have been bedbugs or something similar. After three days, our children in the two adjoining rooms had bites with small blisters.
