Castello di Cafaggio Suites

The village of Impruneta is about a 15-minute walk away, with a market, cafes, and restaurants. We had a clean, roomy, very quiet room, and breakfast had everything we needed. It was served in one of the castle’s historic halls. The pool was modern and spotless too. We spent three wonderful days here during our summer holiday. The castle and its setting are gorgeous, especially the views over the vineyards and olive groves. The oldest section dates back to the 14th century, and we got to visit the tower and take in its panoramic view of the valley. A special thank you to our lovely host Antonio, who showed us the ancient tower and told us about its history.

The birds made this stay especially good for me. I love birdwatching, and saw nesting Kestrels, a pair of Little Owls, and lots of songbirds that you don’t usually find in more urban parts of Tuscany. You can spend the day walking in the woods, swimming in the pool, or just relaxing in a wonderful room. There are beautiful sunrise views over Chianti and sunsets over Impruneta, and Florence, Siena, Greve, and San Gimignano are only a short drive away. The house’s roots go back to the early 1000s CE, and it has been lovingly cared for over the centuries. Its history includes close associates of Cosimo and Lorenzo di Medici through their ties to the Benci family, who were friends of Leonardo Da Vinci. It really did make us feel like Tuscan nobles of old. And this was the perfect place to pop the question after travelling around Italy. The romance of Castello di Caffagio made it feel right almost immediately. 10/10, we’ll absolutely be back, and hopefully for longer soon. Grazie mille!!!

The property is beautiful, with comfortable rooms, stunning architecture, and lovely views. The team were so kind and considerate throughout our stay. They helped us set up for our small ceremony and catered the dinner afterward. The food was wonderful, and they made the whole event feel completely stress free. They were around whenever we needed help, while still giving us space to enjoy time together. We spent a week at the Castello last October for our small family wedding, and couldn’t have asked for a better stay. The owner gave us a tour and brought in a local chef to lead a cooking class, which was fun and delicious. Thank you, Valentina, Monica, and Primal, for an unforgettable experience!

Lorenzo was so kind and hospitable. We stayed the weekend with a few of our guests, swam in the pool, and Lorenzo and his team put on an amazing private pizza party for us. We had the whole castle to ourselves! We had our dream wedding here in September 2021. The property is absolutely gorgeous and the service was wonderful. Love, love, love this castle and its lovely staff. Looking forward to another chance to spend time there. Perfect!
