Hotel Villa Ambrosina

After a full day of sightseeing, it would have been nice to have more comfort with three adults sharing a room, though we weren’t in there much. The rooms are charming and spacious, with lovely views, and parking is free. Breakfast costs just 5 EUR. The staff are polite and really nice. You’ll need a car, as you would for any place if you want the full Tuscan experience of staying up on a hill.

The restaurant attached to the hotel serves delicious food, and the view is beautiful. The staff were really kind and friendly, and we had a lovely stay. The rooms could use better soundproofing, though. The family next door was extremely loud, with children still screaming past 11 pm. I know that’s not the hotel’s fault, but improved soundproofing might help.

The only downside was the road up to the hotel, which is narrow and very winding. Once there, we found a huge private car park and a very friendly, helpful staff. The room was spacious, with a lovely bed, a three-seat divan, various other furniture, and a decent-sized TV on the wall. Breakfast was self-service, plentiful, and served in a modern, clean, comfortable room. There’s a very good restaurant attached. I didn’t use the bar, so can’t comment on it. Great value for money.

The rooms felt old, and breakfast was really poor. The hotel is right at the top of a hill, so if you don’t have a car, don’t book here. From the bus station you have to climb for about 20 minutes, which seems almost impossible in summer. I’m surprised this place has so many good reviews.
