Hotel San Giovanni Terme

The hotel's location is decent. We could walk to the city center, Ischia port and several restaurants. But it was difficult to find at first, with no sign showing the entrance. The room was at the very end of a hallway near the pool, and Wi-Fi didn't reach it, so we had to stand in the hall to check booking confirmations or make plans. Although a double room was booked, we got two single beds pushed together, plus an extra single bed for no clear reason. The room also had a lot of dust and dirt under the beds, as if it hadn't been cleaned for a long time. In the bathroom, the shower didn't work properly, the tiles needed repair, and an old rusty hook looked unsafe. Breakfast was extremely disappointing, even by Italian standards. The vegetables weren't properly washed, many items seemed stale or like the cheapest quality, and the coffee was undrinkable. The advertised private beach was another letdown: it's about 15 minutes away and shared with three other hotels. It was so crowded we could barely find a place to sit. That should be made clear in the listing. The one genuinely positive part of our stay at Hotel San Giovanni Terme was the staff. They were kind, helpful and did their best to assist us. But despite the 4-star advertising, the dirty room, misleading facilities and poor food made the stay frustrating. The hotel has potential, especially with its location and friendly staff, but I wouldn't recommend it or return.

We booked a room with a balcony but were given a basement room with a garden. There was no Wi-Fi in the room, and the fridge didn't work. The TV had gazilions of channels, but not one in English.

The location was okay, and the pool and beach service were nice. The rooms weren't very appealing, breakfast was lacking, and the staff weren't particularly friendly.

A good location, helpful and friendly staff, a lovely swimming pool, and very tasty food.
