Hotel Solemare Beach & Beauty SPA

Antonella really made our short time in Ischia count. We had only a few days before heading back to Naples and wanted to see as much as possible, so she took the time to answer all our questions and help us plan. She arranged cars and reservations, suggested where to shop and eat, and helped us figure out how to get back to Naples. She also pointed out ways to save money with taxis and getting around. Even a small request for mosquito repellent was passed on to the night shift. Those little things added up, and we felt very well cared for. The service was personal and great. People who care about what’s best for you, rather than just doing the bare minimum, are rare. Ten stars for Antonella and the team.

The location was great, but I regretted booking this hotel. It calls itself luxury, yet the rooms were run down and the spa wasn’t well maintained. The overnight staff member who checked us in seemed as though he’d rather we stayed somewhere else. Beach towels, robes, and beach chairs all cost extra. The place needs a makeover.

This hotel was gross and nowhere near worth what it costs. It felt like a shabby motel, and seemed not to have been updated in about 35 years. I have no idea how all those five-star reviews could be real. To make matters worse, staff gave another guest our room key, and a man walked in while my wife was showering because he thought it was his room. Stay elsewhere and spare yourself the hassle.

The terrace view was spectacular, the linens were good despite the hard pillows, and the staff were kind and helpful. Breakfast was good too. Those are the reasons I gave it three stars. I rented the penthouse in September 2023, and it wasn’t as described on Booking.com. It felt overpriced for the poor quality: no iron, tea towel, or hair dryer, and the tiles were very slippery when wet. The master bedroom blinds were broken, and even when down they didn’t block the lighthouse. Water pressure was miserable, a tap was broken, and the shower ran out of hot water in two minutes. The place felt dated and worn. The thermal pool had green mold on its tiles and seemed very unsanitary.
