The staff were kind and helpful. They saw how cramped our room and beds were and offered us a larger room, and they also brought complimentary prosecco and a slice of cake for my mom’s birthday. The location is good, and the hotel was clean. But the rooms feel dated, the beds are small and very hard, and the linens are rough and cheap. The WiFi and TV didn’t work, the shower head was broken, the fridge barely kept things cold, and there was no complimentary water. At over $300 a night, I expected a nearly perfect five-star stay. This felt more like three stars, or four on a good day, and it was overpriced for what we got. They should put money into renovating the rooms if they want to be five-star worthy.

The bar became one of our favorite places to spend time. Bar Manager Geraldo and pianist Pepe made us feel right at home, and Geraldo was especially helpful with recommendations and getting us oriented. The hotel sits right on the water, with breathtaking views, and there are great restaurants and shopping nearby. We loved our stay and will be back.

The castle views, setting right by the water, and the beach were lovely. There are two jacuzzis on the upper deck and an indoor pool. We also really enjoyed the breakfasts and will miss the staff. Almost everyone we dealt with was very nice, helpful, and happy to chat. The bathrooms are tiny, but clean and well equipped. There’s no outdoor pool at this hotel, despite the advertisement, though you can use the one at its sister hotel a few steps away. At night, leaving the door open was lovely, with the sea breeze and waves helping us sleep. A couple of afternoons we returned for a nap after the room had been cleaned, then woke at 4 pm to someone knocking and coming in. If that was turn-down service, guests should be told. After it happened repeatedly, we started putting out the do-not-disturb sign. The final night was much worse. A wedding reception took place on the patio right below the rooms until midnight. We weren’t warned or given a courtesy call, and the flashing lights and extremely loud band kept us awake. When I called the front desk to ask when it would end, they basically hung up on me. For the price, that wasn’t a five-star response. One woman at the front desk was also very rude when I asked about a water taxi. She said snootily that they could arrange a private boat because “the water taxis are with everyone.” We’d booked directly after seeing an offer for two free welcome drinks, but when we asked about them at check-in, we were told they weren’t alcoholic and they could make something up if we wanted. Most of our stay was enjoyable, though, and we’d recommend the hotel.

I’ve stayed at this great little hotel many times for family events. The staff are always warm and amazing. It’s lovely to sit in the sun by the sand and enjoy the Italian hospitality, with the castle overlooking everything.

Rita at the front desk helped with all sorts of things, from suggesting the best vineyard tour to helping repair my broken luggage. I travel regularly, so I notice and appreciate service like that. This is a lovely boutique hotel with a comfortable room, a nice atmosphere, and a great location. The included breakfast buffet was impressive, and the service was excellent. It may not technically be a five-star resort, but I’d put it around four to five stars. I’d highly recommend it and hope to visit again.
