Hotel Villa Maria

It’s a charming boutique hotel in a handy spot for exploring Ischia Porto and nearby areas. The ferries and beach are a short walk away, and taxis wait right outside. The room was very simply furnished, though some pieces had a nice boutique feel. At least there was a refrigerator, but it made quite a bit of noise and looked oddly placed, with the tiniest TV I’ve seen sitting on top. I didn’t try the TV. Street noise was noticeable. With the balcony doors and windows shut it was okay, but then there wasn’t much fresh air for sleeping. The staff seemed friendly, but none spoke any English. At check-in we weren’t told about breakfast, dinner, or much else. We thought our room was in the basement and asked; staff confirmed that, though it was actually on the first floor and had a nice balcony. WiFi connected but had no internet, so it was pretty useless. Breakfast was forgettable, with dry croissants and cheese that wasn’t very good. The espresso, at least, was good.
