Isernia was lovely, and the location was great. The room was spacious and comfortable, with a great shower. It seemed to have been refurbished recently, and they did a great job. The decor has a lot of character and brings old times to mind, in a good way.

That ceiling fresco gives the place a special touch, and the whole property has a beautiful period feel. Everything was carefully looked after and spotlessly clean. We appreciated the two complimentary bottles of water too, a nice little welcome. The staff were kind and helpful from the start. They even advised us on the best route to get there, which was especially useful during Carnival. Breakfast was arranged through the bar downstairs. The bartender was very kind and polite, and had no problem letting us leave our bags there while we explored the city center. A very pleasant stay, and I'd definitely recommend it.

Luca was so kind and helpful. He gave us tips on where to eat, where to park, and how to get around. The breakfast at the local café was excellent, served by a very nice young woman. Staying in that ancient palace, in its wonderful rooms, made us feel like nobles in a movie. What else can I say? We highly recommend it!

After I canceled, availability on Booking suddenly appeared again. I had booked there even though the hotel had told me by phone it was sold out. Then they called to say there were no rooms, and that Booking had shown one as free because of a problem with their management system. On the morning of December 27, Booking sent me a check-in request, and I found the room was still booked. Poor management, unfortunately. In my little Sicilian town, reliability is a different matter. And this is a property in Isernia, not in the Dolomites.
