B&B La Medusa

Mrs. Anna was very kind and attentive, and I liked the outdoor spaces. The interiors need that same level of care. We were there with family and got two rooms, one downstairs and one upstairs. The lower room was okay, but nothing like the photos: the so-called air conditioning was fans held together with duct tape. There was no fridge, the towels and sheets were old and stained, and the furniture was shabby. The upstairs room was much worse. Dark blue curtains made it even darker, and the lighting was so bad I couldn't put on makeup at night. A stale, nasty smell suffocated us whenever we went upstairs. The shower curtain rod was half loose; we asked for a fix, but nobody came. The pool was constantly full of dead bugs, and the lawn was mowed noisily in the afternoon when people usually rest. Breakfast wasn't great either, the same thing every day for a week. I don't understand the positive reviews. If they looked after the inside as much as the outside, the place would be amazing.

The one bright spot is the wonderful beach, just a few minutes' walk away, with stunning, crystal-clear water. The rest was a bad experience, and I strongly don't recommend this place. The exterior seems like a decoy for rooms that are run-down and dirty, with no air conditioning, despite Booking.com mentioning it in our reservation. The building has rooms on the lower floor and upstairs in what people call the attic. The upper rooms are basic, with reused furniture and crumbling curtains. The fixed shower isn't suitable for a "freebie," and at the hottest times there were unpleasant drain odors. There was no air conditioning, and the fans were useless, blowing hot air above 40 degrees Celsius. The saunas, at least, are free! During our stay, even the water from the pipes wasn't clean, so showering was impossible. Outside, beyond the gentle palm trees, there's a pool that looks refreshing on scorching days, but insects get blown into it, making it an easy feast for the beautiful swallows. I don't think the pool is safe for children: the edges are very high, so if something happens, you may not be quick enough or able to surface safely and rest your arms on the edge. Be careful with children taking a dip. We and other groups complained to the owner by phone, but it didn't help. The OWNER explained that staying without air conditioning was impossible because of the exhaust stench, then still remembered to ask for the tourist tax and €15 for an extra camp bed for a child. Please find out about this place before you run into a bad adventure!

The location is good, and the price was very fair for it. We were on the upper floor, where the room could use some renovation. The shower was tiny, and there was no bidet. On the plus side, it was cleaned with great care, and the breakfast lady was friendly and courteous. The sea was beautiful and not very crowded the week after mid-August. I would come back.

We had a wonderful vacation here with family. The garden and pool were always well kept, and the rooms were spotless. I was lucky to stay in one of the mini-apartments, which had everything needed and felt almost like home. There are also themed rooms, as pictured. The location is stunning, and a great base for enjoying the area's beautiful red beaches and crystal-clear water. The owner and B&B staff were very friendly and happy to answer questions, and breakfast was excellent. I highly recommend it. A+, it's hard to find a B&B like this.
