The owner ignored us and never gave our money back. We had booked an entire house through a booking site, but it turned out there were rooms in the basement, full of mold and with a chemical smell. There were screws sticking out of the desk too, so four families with kids couldn’t stay there. It felt like a scam.
The apartment was clean and had everything we needed, with a local market nearby for essentials. It’s less than a minute’s walk from a nice beach, and the host was really kind. We enjoyed our stay a lot.
The Sardinian hospitality, the island’s charms, and the Italian food all made August appealing, along with the apartment’s exceptional spot by the beach. We stayed for 10 days in the sea-view apartment, paying about €3,300. The location was one of the main reasons we chose it, as was “The Island of 1,000 Festivals.” The apartment didn’t live up to our expectations beyond that location. There were small things that made it feel like the apartment and building needed renovation or some new furnishings: rust in the shower, an unplayable table tennis table, creepy planters, old items left around, cushions that were in rough shape, and a dishwasher that wasn’t secured in its frame. Nothing was terrible, but at €330 a night, these things affected the value for money. You can also smell the kebab shop downstairs. None of this ruined our vacation, but it made it less enjoyable, especially when you’re paying so much for the best time of year. Investors could use 20 percent of the annual revenue to make future guests a little happier and improve the reviews.
