Villa Principe di Belmonte

Set just outside Ispica, the hotel is quiet and has scenic countryside views. Pozzallo is an odd 30 minutes away, so it's conveniently located. The rooms have been modernized, though some fine details are lacking. Breakfast is usually pastries, ham, cheese, and bread rolls. I enjoyed the peace and quiet.

A good spot if you're staying near Pozzallo. It's in a peaceful setting with lovely countryside and sea views. Our room was spacious and clean, and the staff were helpful and courteous.

By daylight, the place felt like a lovely old property in remote southern Italy, with huge clean beds, stone floors and rooms, and friendly staff. Breakfast was okay, though hot water took a while and the heater barely worked. I had to change rooms, and in both cases the remote was kept somewhere outside the room until a staff member found it. The rooms have a slightly modernized lord's-house look, like something from a Robin Hood film. But arriving after dark was unsettling. My first room had three beds even though I was alone, and it felt as if unseen people were there. I asked to move; the next room had a giant king bed and a big gold chair that made me feel watched. I couldn't sleep even with the lights on, and was too scared to pack and leave until the sun came up. I headed to breakfast and told the staff when they asked how I'd slept. My hostess looked startled, and nobody dismissed what I said. I almost wished they'd told me it was just my imagination, but instead they quietly spoke among themselves. Even pulling up in my car after sunset had made my heart race for no clear reason.

The hilltop setting on a private estate has lovely views over the hills and sea, and the place is peaceful and quiet. We had a very pleasant stay. Breakfast and lunch were both lovely, and there's plenty of parking with easy access. It would work well for weddings or other special occasions. Highly recommended.
